The Surf Lodge and Pub is a boutique, rustic establishment that feels like a walk back in time. It’s the perfect place to relax and take in incredible views, including some of the most beautiful sunsets, mountains, distant Gulf Islands, and occasional whale sightings. The Surf Lodge offers a variety of rooms and cabins at different price points to suit your needs. During the off-season the banquet hall that seats 50, is available for private parties and special events such as weddings, birthday celebrations, meetings and more.
The Surf Lodge is located on the North end of Gabriola Island, only an 8 minute drive from Gabriola ferry dock after a 20-minute ferry ride from Nanaimo. Once you arrive, we provide free parking, Wi-Fi, and self check-in and check-out for guests. Visitors can enjoy a sandstone beach area right across the street, a patio, and a pet-friendly lawn at the dining side of the lodge. Our food and drink offerings include a pub and patio for guests (over 19 years of age), both featuring ocean views and refreshing sea breezes.
You’ll find a sunset dining room, a cozy fireplace dining area, and a pub serving American cuisine, with some vegetarian and gluten-free options available. After a day of shopping, hiking, or cycling, guests staying can unwind in their lodge room or private cabin; cabins are pet-friendly for a fee.
With the recent introduction of the Hullo ferry, which offers walk-on passenger service from downtown Vancouver Harbour to Nanaimo in a speedy 45-50 minutes, it’s now easier and more economical than ever to explore Gabriola Island and all it has to offer. The Gabriola ferry terminal is just minutes from the Nanaimo dock, making your journey seamless, economical and convenient. Nanaimo Harbour Water Aerodrome Airport is conveniently located just 7.5 miles away.
